Hislop School of Biotechnology is the pioneer of postgraduate education in biotechnology in central India. Having started in 2002 through a seed grant from the University Grants Commission for undergraduate education in the subject, and through a management approval and State Government and the RTM Nagpur University imprimatur for postgraduate education, the School has had a brief but a rich history. Within just about a decade of its existence, its students have done exceedingly well at the national level educational tests, often better than the affiliating University. Also, its students are legion in the best national research institutes and in the famed institutes and universities abroad.
The School has been involved in research in plant biotechnology and tissue culture and in anti-quorum-sensing molecules useful in control of bacterial growth and virulence. Various National Agencies have helped us in our research efforts sanctioning several research projects over the years. The dedicated faculty of the School has published a wealth of original papers and articles in high impact factor international journals and has also presented its research advancements in various conferences and symposia in the nation.
