Botanical Garden
The Hislop College botanical garden, maintained by the Department of Botany, is dedicated to the collection, cultivation, preservation and display of a wide range of plants. The garden hosts plants that have medicinal significance, ornamental relevance as well as an overall academic value. These plants have been labeled with their botanical names and under a student initiative, the plants are also being QR coded to link them to the departmental webpage where all the documented properties of the plants are being enlisted. The hard copy of the information booklet on medicinal plants of the garden is available with the department.
The garden also provides space for the large scale extension activity of the Department of Botany. The students are provided hands on training on floriculture and allied subject areas. A culmination of this training is the Annual Flower Show which ran into its 17th year in December 2020. The show is a display of sizable number of plants for which the botanical garden provides a nursery.
Also a part of the Botanical Garden, are the polyhouse and water tanks to provide habitat to suitable plants. Several student research projects also bloom in the botanical garden.
