Innovative Programmes conducted by the Department that are recognized by academicians as excellent Teaching – Learning Tools in Statistics Education.
‘STAT-STORM’ Quiz: The quiz is developed as an innovative method that highlights the applicability of ‘Statistics’ and also aims at popularizing the subject. The quiz has gained popularity and the staff was invited to conduct the quiz in Fergusson College, Pune, Yashvantrao Chavhan Institute of Science, Satara, HPT RYK College, Nashik in Pune University, Amravati University, Baroda University, Ramnarayan Ruia College and School of Science, Narsi Munji Institute of Management Studies (Deemed to be University), Mumbai, St. Thomas College, Palai, Kerala etc. “Cytel, India” has produced a short film “Recipe of a good statistician” and included the quiz in the film as a teaching-learning tool.
“STATISTICA” – A festival of Statistical Activity: The department conducts a Unique Activity-based Two-day workshop ‘STATISTICA’ with the objective of creating awareness about applications of Statistics in various fields such as education, social sciences, medicine, biological sciences, physical and chemical sciences, engineering etc The programme motivates the students to choose careers with Statistics.
In this two-day workshop various competitions like Statistics Quiz, Stat-Maze puzzle solving competition, Stat-Star problem solving competition and Stat-Smart- Live data collection & project presentation competitions are conducted for students of Statistics.
Dr. Vrinda Joglekar and Dr. Jyoti Shiwalkar of Department of Statistics have been invited to conduct the workshop in Marathwada University, Amravati University and Dharampeth Science College, Nagpur.
Statistical Consultancy: The staff of the department provides statistical consultancy to the researchers in various disciplines like Architecture, Social Science, Pharmaceutical Science, Medicine, Management and Science etc.
