Department of Sociology

Established in 1952, one of the Oldest granted and permanently affiliated (Permanently Granted) P.G. Department of Sociology in Central India. The inception of the Department was even before the Post Graduate Dept of Nagpur University and has long history of producing elites in pedagogy, administration, Social Work and Politics. Currently the Department offers Sociology as a papers at the undergraduate level and a PG programme in Hindi, Marathi and English medium.

Admission to MA Sociology

You must be a graduate from Nagpur University or any other University with undergraduate course as qualification for the admission into M.A Sociology Programme. The medium of instruction here is English/Hindi and Marathi.

Extension Unit (HISAR)
Hislop Institution of Social Action and Research a unique extension unit of our college. It was established in the year1980 by Dr. T. S. Wilkinson former principal of the college. Departmental activities are not restrict3ed within the college; rather it has been extended to the community. Students and staff of the college are participating in various activities organized by the Sociology Department along with HISAR. There are three Balwadi and one sewing class running under HISAR. HISAR provides free education to the slum children and imparts training to slum women for self employment without charging any fee
